Troopers release name of girl who fell in water

Alaska State Troopers on Monday released the name of the 6-year-old Diomede girl who is presumed dead after falling from ice and into frigid water at the edge of the village.

Sonja Grace Ozenna, 6, was playing with other children at the edge of the village around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when she fell off the ice, troopers said.

Troopers said they believe her body had washed out to sea.

Diomede is on the western coast of Little Diomede Island, about 135 miles northwest of Nome.
