Park Service officials Sunday recovered the body of George Finnelly, Jr., the 17-year-old Chugiak youth who fell from a 140-foot cliff into Thunderbird Creek Thursday about 11:30 p.m. Finnelly fell while climbing with a companion on rocks near Thunderbird Falls. His baseball cap and glasses were found Friday, but rescuers were unable to recover the body until 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
